Last weekend I visited Margalla hills for birding. I decided to search the foothill area of Margalla. I found some colorful birds of margalla like Himalayan bluetail, Blue-throated barbet, Red-billed leiothrix and also found one of the most elusive birds of margalla Rufous-bellied niltava. It is hard to find them but luckily he found me. Leiothrix also the most colorful bird and one of my favorite birds to photograph.
On this trip, I saw some common birds of Margalla like Himalayan Bulbul, Grey treepie, Jungle babbler, White-throated fantail, and Grey-winged blackbird. I hid near a freshwater pond and all these birds came either for drinking water or to take a bath.
This area is full of thrushes. I saw many thrushes and some are common like Blue whistling thrush, and Streaked laughingthrush. I also got some rare thrushes in this place like Chestnut thrush and Orange-headed thrush but I also got a life bird for me Black-throated thrush. I have seen this bird many times but never succeeded in taking a photograph.
I also saw some small birds on this trip like Black-chinned babbler, White-eyes, and Striated Prinia. I spent four to five hours at this place and was very happy to see all these birds. Most of these birds are migratory birds and in a few weeks, they will fly back to their destination. I will try to visit this place again in few days and hope to find some new birds.
