Weaver Ants

in hive-144064 •  4 months ago

Today's post goes to the fresh macro shots of weaver ants that I found along the ditch outside of my house. As it is a tiny insect, I got to prepare myself with macro so I could be able to catch its detailed look. It belongs to the family Formicidae. Weaver ants mostly inhabit in trees and grasses are known for their unique nest building behaviour where workers construct nests by weaving together leaves using larval silk.
